Phantom Horizon: The Uncovered Star-logs of Treph'os V - Star-Log #5

As the investigation continues for the missing Treph'os V, more clues and revelations have been revealed. In the previous star-log, a routine inventory check was recorded. In the video, everything seemed normal until the inventory supervisor, identified as Jekkan Lasin, noted that there was unaccounted cargo. As the video progressed, another person, identified as Gaz'Di, came into view and dismissed the discrepancy as an error. Upon learning this news, planetary officials and Black Palace officers thoroughly inspected Treph'os V's cargo log. So far, everything has appeared normal. Would this just be an error on the supervisor's part?

All previous star-logs can be read beginning here.

With the new information, The Black Palace mobilized their forces to investigate. It was discussed that since this is now a matter of interplanetary security, all new information must be fully investigated with the full support of Black Palace forces. Since there was a possible change to the cargo, The Black Palace sent occupying forces into every trading port in the Mehdias JX7 System. The Black Palace soldiers were tasked to temporarily close the ports and interrogate all port workers and traders. Some traders weren't even close to the port, yet Black Palace officials tracked them down and detained them, demonstrating the seriousness and scope of this investigation. As the ports closed, tensions began to rise.

The system-wide economy was already crumbling with the Treph'os V's disappearance. Shortages were rampant and populations in harsh biomes were decimated. As time went on, very few trading routes became available and limited goods were delivered to planets in need. Many would deem it not enough as the shortages continued but to a lesser degree. When the Black Palace gave a notice that trading ports were closing, they never gave a timeline on when they would re-open. As the days passed and no updates came, locals started amassing at the ports and demanded a re-opening. When their demands fell flat, words quickly turned into violence. Crowds began to forcefully break into the ports. Black Palace officials responded with forces repelling the angry mobs and setting up a defense line. Riots broke out and the surrounding areas next to the ports were destroyed and set ablaze by protestors. Black Palace officials intensified efforts to maintain order, taking offensive action by arresting and subduing protestors in the area and threatening to use lethal force if necessary. Eventually, the protests faded and The Black Palace announced that the port would be opening soon. However, no date was set and many are still waiting in hunger.

Coming back to Myero, top researchers have implemented a new process for recovering star-logs. After the discovery of the log that contained video of a mysterious figure dubbed 'Signode', it was confirmed that some star-logs may have been destroyed intentionally. Knowing this, Myeran officials created new data search algorithms that can cross reference the 'destroyed' star-log to all remaining de-sync data on the pro-data box. Soon, some data was recovered that may prove this new process a success!

A new star-log was uncovered, if you could call it that. The data was severely damaged, it would be otherwise useless without the top technological minds of Myero.

STAR-LOG 5: SHIPMENT DAY UNKNOWN

Star-log video description:

(The video starts with constant static and data damage. Nothing is viewable for at least a few minutes. After some time, the video is barely restored, still damaged with frame breaks and distorted audio. We see the star-log recording area empty, whoever started the recording was not in view. After a few more minutes, three men appear in the far back area, it's hard to identify them. Two of the men seem to be dragging a person. The person being dragged looks either unconscious or possibly dead. The third man was following right behind them. He stops and looks right at the star-log recording area.)

Unknown: Is that thing on?! Destroy the log IMMEDIATELY!

(One of the other men let go of the body, dropping it on the hard ground. Whoever was being carried had no response when crashing onto the floor. The man approaches the star-log area, coming more into view. Before the man can be identified, the video returns to static damage.)
